The government dismissed the regional governors of Lovech, Ruse, Silistra, Sliven, Sofia and Sofia region and appointed new ones in their place.
Stefan Arsov, who was the deputy regional governor of Sofia-city region, has been appointed regional governor.
Silvia Arnautska, an expert in “education and health care” in the municipality of Ihtiman, has been appointed the district governor of the Sofia region.
Iliyan Velikov is the new regional governor of Silistra. He takes the place of Mincho Yordanov. Velikov graduated from “Angel Kanchev” Higher Technical School in Ruse. He has master’s degrees in “Industrial Design” and “Agricultural Technology” at the “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse. He has held the position of deputy regional governor of Silistra region twice – in the period 2017-2021 and from July 2023 to the present. Before that, he held managerial positions in the Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior of Silistra, including head of the unit for combating organized crime. In 2016, he was stabbed in front of the police building. Married, with one child.
