In politics, not only with James Bond – never say never, he said when asked if this was the end of the talks between GERB and PP-DB

“It was an unnecessary demonstration, and if in the face of the opposition it was part of normal political behavior, then for our former partners it was an average for revenge, a desire for punishment or something similar. But this will have its dimension.”

This was commented on BNT by Rosen Zhelyazkov in “Panorama” on BNT, after PP-DB, BSP, “Vazrazhdane” and ITN deposed him as head of the parliament on Thursday.

“Perhaps until later yesterday evening there was some bitterness, perhaps this is a completely normal human reaction to the experience. But in politics one quickly has to shake off one’s personal attitude in political processes. It is not a good adviser for anyone is a politician, the ambition, the pride, the ego, especially when it comes to personal issues. Yesterday’s decision is part of the political process, which has gained enough momentum that the regular government cannot continue its work and we go to the elections,” said he.

“I read the transcript of the debate again, and there is nothing there that is a violation of the rules. There was a compilation of reasons in the request for my removal, but anyway, it was probably a consequence of that failed rotation process,” Zhelyazkov continued. And he recalled the controversies surrounding the rotation – with whose mandate should it be, should Denkov be a minister, etc.

“Denkov’s resignation was a tactical move, and at a time when Borisov and Gabriel were in Bucharest. This move prefigured the subsequent actions. It reached its apogee and this long-suppressed confidence, which in fact was not overcome from the first day of the government” , he analyzed.

And when asked if this was really the end of their talks with the PP-DB, as GERB leader Boyko Borisov vowed, he replied: “In politics, not only with James Bond – never say never. In politics, there is no term never, because based on assumptions, sociology, maybe there will be six political formations. We know with great certainty which will be the first, fifth and fourth. The conversations will be based on values - policies and their implementation come to talks, because an election campaign can be another burnt bridge and really come to an election-to-election situation”.

“Two will not be able to do anything. Assuming that the government managed to do a lot of things that seemed almost unbelievable in April this year – changes to the constitution, budget, 150 laws passed, aid to Ukraine, etc. and we could continue them, things would look different. If we keep blaming each other and pointing fingers, then nothing will be possible. I don’t believe the campaign will be clean,” he noted.

“The 49th parliament was desecrated, there were clashes, hate speech, ugly language, but we also got the job done,” he further analyzed.

Regarding the future elections, the former Speaker of the Parliament said that there will probably be six political formations in the National Assembly after them. And he expressed confidence that it is known exactly who will be the first: “We know with the same certainty who will be the fifth and sixth, but we do not know who will be the second, third and fourth”.
