The team of Slavia achieved a very important victory over Lokomotiv Sofia in the small capital derby of the 9th round of the efbet League. The Whites prevailed 2:1, and Zlatomir Zagorcic’s players had to turn the score around to get the three points.
The “red and black” took the lead in the 9th minute after a goal by Bozhidar Katsarov, but after the break Christian Dobrev brought success to his team after two accurate shots. The youth of Botev Plovdiv scored in the 50th and 62nd minutes of the match.
The match at the “Alexander Shalamanov” stadium started in the best way for the guests from “Nadezhda”. The football players of Lokomotiv Sofia managed to take the lead in the 9th minute of the match. After a corner kick, Bozhidar Katsarov was left uncovered in the penalty area and headed home. Ertan Tombak tries to clear the ball, but unfortunately for him he sends it into his own net.
Slavia’s players tried to respond immediately, but were unlucky in front of the goal.
In the 20th minute, Antonio Vutov had a unique chance to increase his team’s lead. The midfielder tried to pass Svetoslav Vutsov with a shot from the center of the field, but the “Whites” guard was careful and kicked into the corner.
It was only in the 31st minute of the match that Slavia was able to make its first accurate shot at Lokomotiv’s goal since the beginning of the match. Galin Ivanov shot from a good position, but Alexander Lyubenov was in his place and saved.
A few minutes later, the hosts had another opportunity to hit the target and level the score. The “Whites” got a direct free kick in front of the penalty area of the “Railwaymen”, and Christian Dobrev took it. However, the winger of the “whites” shot too inaccurately over the goal.
Two minutes before the end of the first half, Slavia missed their best position since the start of the match. After a mistake by Dimitar Mitkov in the center of the field, Galin Ivanov managed to steal the ball and lead Toni Tasev from the left. The “Whites” winger took over and decided to shoot diagonally with his right foot, but missed the target, sending the leather ball over the goal.
The second half started well for the hosts. Just five minutes after the restart, Slavia managed to equalize the score. After an attack on the left flank, the hosts got a direct free kick, which was taken quickly. Ertan Tombak received in the center of the field and decided to bring Christian Dobre into the penalty area. A teammate of Dobrev was in an obvious ambush, but he did not play the ball. The leather ball fell to Dobrev, who hit the target with a measured shot for 1:1.
Zlatomir Zagorcic’s players continued to be more assertive in the second half, and it definitely paid off. After equalizing the score, the “red and black” did not manage to react in the best way and conceded a second goal in the 62nd minute.
Tony Tasev was brought out on the left wing, progressed very well and managed to cross to the far post, where Dobrev was left uncovered and with his head he managed to shoot exactly and 2:1.
In the continuation of the match, Dimo Bakalov could have secured the point for his team, but his shot was cleared by a defender of the “whites” almost from the goal line.
After winning the three points, the Slavia team took the sixth place in the temporary ranking with an asset of 15 points. At the same time, Lokomotiv Sofia is ninth with three points less after nine games played.
