This became possible after the relatives of a brain-dead 59-year-old man nobly decided to donate his organs to give life to other complete strangers.
Thanks to them saying “yes”, on April 20, doctors at the Military Medical Academy transplanted the liver of a 49-year-old man, and at the “Alexandrovska” UMBAL, two medical teams transplanted the kidneys of a 64-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man.
According to information from the medical facilities, the patients are in good general condition and remain under medical supervision in the intensive care units. The other organs were not suitable for transplantation.
