The ministers of foreign affairs and defense meet in a joint meeting in Luxembourgto discuss military support for Ukraine and possible sanctions against Iran over the attack on Israel.

“It is high time to support Ukraine,” said a diplomatic source from the EU and pointed to the delivery of the Patriot systems as the most urgent task.

The debates are against the background of the military aid approved by the House of Representatives on Saturday, worth nearly 61 billion dollars, which is likely to affect the decision of the member countries. According to the source it will also discuss how to direct the profits from the frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, but it is not certain that an agreement will be reached on the matter.

Regarding Iran, there is an idea to include the production of missiles in the sanctions framework for the regime of drones that the Persian country exports to Russia.

“We cannot say whether there will be full political agreement, but we must prevent the sending of ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia,” he added.

The ministers will also debate the possibility of extending the sanctions regime to Iran’s proxies in the Middle East, BNR informs.
