On the eve of April 28 – International Day of Remembrance for those killed in occupational accidents and World Day for Healthy and Safe Work, a commemorative ceremony was traditionally organized in Shumen. The regional governor Prof. Dobromir Dobrev, the deputy regional governor Neli Georgieva, the chairman of the regional structure of KNSB in Shumen Radostin Pavlov, the head of the Regional Department of Education Kremena Marinova, representatives of the Territorial Division of NOI-Shumen, the Labor Inspectorate and members of The Regional Council on Working Conditions. As a sign of respect to the memory of those who died, wreaths and flowers were placed in front of the memorial plaque of those who died and were injured in work accidents in Shumen.

The Shumen district ranks 10th among the 28 districts in the country in terms of the number of occupational accidents. According to the data of the Territorial Division of NOI-Shumen, in 2023, 77 occupational accidents occurred at the workplace in connection with or on the occasion of the work performed, two of which were registered accidents with a fatal outcome.
