The Draganov-Kovachev rollover is waiting for Glavchev’s initials today Shore News

--

The order for the appointment of Dragomir Draganov as regional governor of Ruse has already been issued, writes the Ruse newspaper “Bryag” in today’s issue. It is expected to be approved today at an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, when the caretaker government will decide on more new appointments – of 5 more governors and several new deputy ministers.

However, for this to happen, Draganov does not have to be an MP. Therefore, yesterday, according to Art. 72 para. 1 item 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, Dragomir Draganov has submitted his resignation to the office of the National Assembly. It is expected that the parliament will vote on the first item on the agenda today. This will enable the Council of Ministers to decide on his appointment as regional governor of Ruse Region.

In place of Draganov as a representative of the people, the next on the Ruse list will be sworn in today – the choreographer Bogdan Donev. Unfortunately, his deputation will start and end within one day – today, as it is the last day present for the people’s representatives until the parliamentary elections on June 9. Therefore, his salary will be the same as that of all 240 people’s representatives, even though they will be on vacation, nagging voters remind.

By law, the regional governor is appointed by the Council of Ministers, and deputy regional governors are appointed by the Prime Minister. After that, the regional governor determines by order the powers and responsibilities of the deputy regional governors.

The current regional governor, Danail Kovachev, took office in July 2023, when he was appointed by the “Denkov” cabinet. Before him, Anatoli Stanev sat in the governor’s chair, who by party affiliation is from Slavi’s people and was placed there by the four coalition.

As “Bryag” was the first to write, the rollover in the regional administration was delayed due to the crisis with the caretaker government. The question of who from the SDS will be nominated to occupy the 5th place in the list of GERB – SDS for the parliamentary elections is already open. Until now, Dragomir Draganov was placed in this position, but with a preferential vote he displaced the others before him and entered the parliament.

In January 2024, the Central Election Commission announced Dragomir Draganov from the SDS as a national representative in the 49th National Assembly from the list of the GERB-SDS coalition in the Nineteenth Electoral District – Rusenski. He took the place of Desislava Atanasova, who was elected by the parliament as a judge in the Constitutional Court.

Dragomir Draganov was born in 1958 in Byala. He completed his higher education at the University of Economics in Varna – “Industrial Management”, master’s degree. He has been a member of the SDS since 1990, regional chairman of the SDS since 2015 and a member of the NIS since 2006. He was deputy mayor and acting mayor of Byala municipality from 1991 to 1995. From 2003 . until 2007 he was a municipal councilor in the Municipality of Dve Mogili, and from 2007 to 2011 – the Mayor of the Municipality. From 2019 until his election as a deputy in the 48th National Assembly, he was a municipal councilor in the Municipality of Dve Mogili. A successful manager and entrepreneur in private business with proven long-term experience in the textile industry, hotel and restaurant industry, sports and health facilities.
