Ashworth, 53, was put on paid leave by Newcastle in February after informing the Magpies management that he wanted to join the Manchester giants.

Newcastle wanted compensation in the amount of 20 million pounds, but since Manchester United is not willing to pay this amount, the matter will now be decided by a third party.
Ashworth will be supported by Manchester United in the case, which is expected to start in May and last several weeks.
New shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is making major changes to the Red Devils’ football operations. Omar Berada will take over as CEO and Jason Wilcox has already been appointed CTO. Ashworth is set to become United’s sporting director.
