The presidential debates are organized by a nonpartisan committee and are scheduled in the fall

United States President Joe Biden said on Friday that he would “love” to face 45th US President Donald Trump in a debate ahead of the November election.

Biden answered a question from Howard Stern during an hour-long interview on SiriusXM. “I’d be happy to debate him,” he said.

Trump campaign adviser Chis Lasivita responded at X: “Okay, let’s get it organized!”

Does Trump have immunity from prosecution

Traditionally, election-year presidential debates are organized by a nonpartisan committee and scheduled in the fall. In November 2023, the commission announced the three sites for the 2024 presidential debates – universities in Texas, Utah and Virginia, with dates set for September and October.

Joe Biden had not made a commitment to participate before his speech on Friday, indicating in March that his willingness to appear on the same stage as Trump “depends on his behavior.”

The president’s comments on Friday were made without advance notice from his office and may have been rushed.

In recent weeks, Donald Trump and his campaign representatives have been calling on the US president for earlier and more frequent debates than those envisaged by the commission.
