Bochum achieved a key success in the battle for Bundesliga survival after winning 3-2 at home to Hoffenheim. The Unbreakables took a 3-0 lead after Kevin Stöger scored twice and Felix Paslak scored twice. Andrej Kramaric scored twice for Hofe, but they weren’t enough.
With the success, Bochum collected 30 points and climbed to 14th place, while Hoffenheim is 9th with 39 points.
The match started more actively for the hosts, but Philipp Hofmann missed two good chances. In the 27th minute, Bochum received a penalty, but it was canceled after the intervention of the VAR system.
The Unbreakables opened the scoring in the 34th minute after an excellent direct free kick by Kevin Stoeger.
The visitors could have equalized two minutes later, but Tim Drexler hit the crossbar with his shot.
In stoppage time of the first half, Felix Paslak took advantage of a mistake in the Hoffenheim defense to make it 2-0.
In the 64th minute, Bochum scored a third goal, with Stöger in the right place to score from close range.
Nine minutes later, the visitors pulled one goal back. David Jurasek shoots and Andrej Kramaric puts his foot in the path of the ball to score.
In the 84th minute, Hoffenheim scored a second goal. Kramaric was on target again after a fine performance from the edge of the penalty area.
Bochum will face Union Berlin while Hofe will host RB Leipzig.
