The sanction is for people who dare to resent the filth in the city
A complete absurdity is unfolding in Varna. Instead of cleaning up the city, the municipal government hands out fines for protesting the overflowing containers. And he does not shy away from inventing formal reasons for the sanctions. All this became clear from a message by local politician Stella Nikolova (DB) on social networks today. She distributed an act against her, imposed by Deputy Mayor Todor Ivanov.
The background was on August 3. 5-6 people protested then in front of the entrance of the Varna municipality building against the terrible situation with garbage collection this summer. In reality, it was a short performance in which people left 2-3 boxes and bags of garbage on the stairs – with the clear intention of picking them up at the end. However, municipal officials and police officers appeared with the participants. They drew up acts for them. Nikolova was among them. Today it becomes clear that her fine is BGN 300. The reason: “Disposing of packaging waste in unauthorized places”.
Most likely, the other protesters will also be fined, and Nikolova announced that an appeal will follow. But a farce is a farce – instead of dealing with the filth, being ashamed, or at least letting the people protest, the municipality of Varna set out to repress them.
