Positional battles continue on most front lines in Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have made advances near Chasov Yar, west of Bakhmut, while Russian troops have advanced west and southwest of Donetsk. This is according to a new report by the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW)transmits RBC-Ukraine.

On April 23, Russian troops continued their ground offensive on the Seversky direction (northwest of Bakhmut), but there were no confirmed changes in the front line in this area. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine repulsed several Russian attacks east of Severskoe in the Zolotarevka and Verkhnekamenskoe areas and southeast of Severskoe in the Spornoe and Viemka areas.

The VSU recently regained lost positions east of Chasov Yar, where on April 23 Russian troops continued offensive operations. Geolocation footage released on April 22 showed that the VSU had advanced slightly southeast of Ivanovskoye (east of Chasov Yar).

The commander of the Chechen special forces “Akhmat” Apti Alaudinov claimed that his units and other forces of the Russian armed forces captured several Ukrainian positions on the western outskirts of Klescheevka (southeast of Chasov Yar), but ISW analysts did not confirm the information.

Russian military correspondents claim that Moscow forces have attacked the eastern outskirts of Chasov Yar. A pro-Moscow blogger called on the Russian armed forces to prioritize capturing the Novi microdistrict in the eastern part of Chasov Yar, rather than continuing a “tactical secondary effort” with an attack on Chasov Yar from Bogdanovka (northeast of Chasov Yar).

Positional fighting also continues near Bogdanovka, in the Novi microdistrict, east of Chasov Yar near Ivanovskoe and southeast of Chasov Yar near Klescheevka and Andreevka.

The spokesman of the “Khortitsa” military police station, Lt. Col. Nazar Voloshin, stated that currently the most intensive areas in the eastern part of the country are Bakhmut, Avdeev, and Novopavlovsk (west and southwest of Donetsk).

Russian and Ukrainian sources continued to debate the extent of the “announced” advance by Moscow forces northwest of Avdeyevka, but there were no confirmed frontline changes in the area.
