Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann will make changes to his squad for Saturday’s match at Union Berlin following the German Cup first round win in midweek.

“There will be changes. Benjamin Pawar will certainly start. The players who did not play in the Cup match will also be included,” BTA quoted Nagelsmann as saying at a press conference.

That means goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who was on the bench during the 5-0 win against Viktoria Köln, should return to the starting line-up.

However, Nagelsmann will leave out the 17-year-old forward Mattis Tell, who against Viktoria Köln became the youngest goalscorer in an official match in Bayern’s club history.

“Mattis Tell is out. He has a slight injury but is likely to be available next week,” the coach said, adding that Buna Sarr is also unavailable due to injury.

Nagelsmann praised Leon Gorecka, who played his first game of the season and scored against Viktoria Köln after knee surgery in pre-season.

“He did really well in the Cup game. “He is a very important player. I hope he doesn’t have any more injury problems,” the coach said. Union is second in the Bundesliga with 10 points, the same as Bayern.

“We will give our best to win. It’s a challenge to play there,” Nagelsmann said.
