According to the latest British intelligence report, the Russian military may have already withdrawn its units from the Kharkiv region. Among the pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine, they reacted sarcastically to this news, claiming that it was only about a realignment of forces in Donbas.
Battles near Kupyansk and Izyum
According to Kyiv, the Ukrainian army continues to recapture Russian-occupied territories in eastern Ukraine. “The liberation of the settlements in the regions of Kupyansk and Izyum is in progress,” a situational report of the Ukrainian armed forces says. In a massive counter-offensive, they recently managed to capture at least 30 settlements in the Kharkiv region.
According to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian army has already recaptured “2,000 km of territory” from Russian troops this month. However, it remained unclear whether the president was talking about square kilometers.
“The Russian army showed us its back”
As early as Thursday, Ukrainian army commander Valery Zaluzhnyi said that his troops had so far recaptured 1,000 square kilometers of land from the Russian army.
“In the last few days, the Russian army has shown us its best side – its back,” said President Zelensky. It was “a good choice for them”. “There is no place for the occupiers” in Ukraine, the president also said.
