Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti praised his players following their 2-0 win over RB Leipzig at home in the Champions League group stage. The success was Real’s second in Group F of the tournament and the Spaniards are the leaders in the provisional standings with 6 points, while the German team is last, fourth without a point from their two matches played. Second and third in the standings are respectively Shakhtar Donetsk with 4 points and Celtic with 1 point at the moment.

“The match was quite difficult. It turned out to be a fantastic match. We didn’t want them to hurt us on the counter-attack, because they are very good in that aspect, and for that reason we were careful with the defense in the second half,” Ancelotti told the Spanish newspaper Ace.
“We controlled the match. We really wanted the victory. We took advantage of our good physical preparation in the second half and I think we played very intelligently”, commented the experienced Italian coach of Real.
The giant from Madrid is also the leader in the temporary ranking in the Spanish La Liga with 15 points after 5 rounds, two ahead of the second Barcelona, which has 13.
