The motorcade of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky crashed in Kyiv. One of its spokespersons, Sergey Nikiforov, announced the incident on Facebook. In his post, he claims that Zelensky was examined by a doctor and no serious injuries were found. The causes of the incident are under investigation.

A visit

Hours before the accident, Zelensky was visiting the city of Izyum. The zone was liberated a few days ago during the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian forces in the eastern part of the country. There, the president thanked the soldiers and said that he came across shocking sights like in Bucha – destroyed buildings and killed people.

There is currently no further information on the incident. According to initial data, the driver of the presidential car is among the injured. He was given first aid on the spot by the doctors traveling with Zelensky. An ambulance was then called.

A flood

Residents of Zelensky’s hometown – Kryvyi Rih – have been urged to evacuate, world agencies reported. The reason is the impact of Russian missiles on a large dam in the region. The damage to the facilities led to the overflowing of the Ingulets River. According to the Ukrainian authorities, there is a leak with a flow rate of about 103 cubic meters per second. About 600,000 people are at risk of flooding, said the deputy head of the presidential administration Kyrylo Tymoshenko.

He doesn’t realize he made a mistake

Russian President Vladimir Putin does not realize that the invasion of Ukraine was a mistake. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after a telephone conversation with the head of state of Russia.

The German chancellor also said that he called on Putin to seek a diplomatic solution to the conflict. However, according to the words, the Russian president is not inclined to change his position.

The chances of peace in Ukraine are minimal, said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who also spoke with Putin by phone.

I have no illusions, at this stage the chances of a peace agreement are minimalhe stated.

The two discussed the export of grain from Ukraine, which Putin said should go primarily to the countries most in need.
