“There, the participants will have a choice whether to get some fantastic glasses, diabolical watches or American robots. And from here the route becomes threefold, the alleys branch off – simultaneously through the streets of Sofia; through the fantastic library “Argus”; through the writer’s prose. We ask se: with whom Svetoslav Minkov writes letters; what books are in his library; how the technology of the world changes the techniques of storytelling. But we also wonder about something more general – how does the first narrator manage in a realistic, too realistic, Bulgarian canon of science fiction stories,” says literary theorist Kamelia Spasova, creator of the route.

And he adds: “Finally, we take off the glasses, watches and doppelgangers to get to two very prosaic points: 1. the participation of Ivan Minkov (brother of Svetoslav Minkov) in the preparation of the attack on the Holy Sunday Church; 2. the trial on case No. 585 from July 6 to 23, 1942 against Nikola Vaptsarov. Minkov testified in Vaptsarov’s defense, but despite his efforts he was shot. Finally, as Minkov himself says: “You, dear reader, may not agree with us, you may be offended…”but the writer’s archive was bought six years ago at an auction for 2.66 cents.”

Autumn “Literary Routes”will end in October with a different walk in partnership with the mediation program “Seeing with Understanding”, an initiative of the “Art – Works and Documents” Foundation and the “Goethe Institute”. The focus of this tour will be to expand the context, to present the interactions of women artists with women writers and intellectual circles of the period, to look for common themes and mutual influences, to suggest metaphorical connections with poetry, and to try to see literature as a key to understanding fine art .

The events are open to the public and require no prior registration.
