Ludogorets beat Levski to claim the Bulgarian Super Cup after a hard-fought game at the national stadium on Thursday night. In regular time, the score was equal – 2:2. However, after penalties, the team from Razgrad won 6:5. “Levski” missed two penalties and “Ludogorets” one, which determined the winner.
In regular time, “Levski” took the lead with a goal by Georgi Milanov in the 41st minute. Shortly after the start of the second half, Kiril Despodov equalized. He scored a second goal for “Ludogorets” 4 minutes later, this time from a penalty. The result was equalized by the Dutchman Kilian van der Kaap, because of whose violation the penalty was awarded in favor of “Ludogorets”.
After the loss, the coach of “Levski” Stanimir Stoilov commented that the match was dynamic and interesting, and his team was at the peak of its capabilities.
“We had a tough 5 minutes and conceded two goals. Against “Ludogorets” every second is penalizedhe stated.
The coach of the winners, Ante Shimunja, said that he was not satisfied with the game of “Ludogorets” in the first part.
“We performed in a completely different way than what we practiced. The most important thing is that we were able to react” said the coach.
