The traffickers collected 10,000 euros per “passenger”

Italian police say they have busted an international criminal group transporting migrants to Western Europe on private planes, the BBC reported.

Five people were arrested – an Italian man, a Tunisian woman and three Egyptians. The traffickers supplied their customers with fake diplomatic documents of the Caribbean island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis. The police have data that the criminal group charged about 10,000 euros per person.

The five suspects were arrested in Rome and Brussels, and two others are being sought.

The arrests are part of a major international investigation involving Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria and France, as well as EU and US agencies. As part of the investigation, five separate landings in Italy, Germany, France, Austria and Belgium were documented. Belgian police have confiscated two private jets worth €426,000.

Probably in connection with the international criminal group, a Bulgarian citizen posing as the ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis, who was issuing false documents to foreigners, was detained on a yacht in Pomorie on Monday.
