The first information event on ISIS was held on August 4, 2022 in the city of Sofia, and at the beginning of September a discussion was also held in Burgas. By the end of September, there will be regional meetings in Varna, Gabrovo and Pleven.
MIR is developing a draft of an updated Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization 2021-2027 (ISIS), which is expected to be adopted by the Council of Ministers in October 2022. The strategy was published for public discussion on August 1, 2022 in the Portal for Public consultations of the Council of Ministers – https://www.strategy.bg/.
ISIS is a basic program document for determining the entire complex of measures for financing innovations in the program period 2021-2027, allowing the country access to resources under the program “Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises” (PCIP) and the Program for Scientific Research, Innovation and digitalization for intelligent transformation (PNIIDIT) for the period 2021-2027.
The innovation strategy for smart specialization is the strategic framework for the sustainable development, based on scientific research and innovation, of the territorial capacity and ambitions of the regions. The strategy will have a central role in strengthening regional innovation ecosystems so that they can stimulate and sustain economic growth.
As part of the wide range of consultations, MIR in cooperation with municipal and regional administrations organizes the regional discussions. Representatives of central and local government, academia, business and the innovation ecosystem participate in the events. The draft of the Strategy will be presented to them and opinions will be exchanged about the opportunities that ISIS will open for the development of Bulgaria and the planning regions.
