Former MMA fighter Dwayne Herrell was arrested in Nashville (Tennessee) for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Irene Torres. Her corpse was found in a container left in one of the closets in the athlete’s apartment.
Herrel, 28, confessed to the crime and was charged with premeditated murder. The police report after the arrest provides very interesting data.
Irene’s mother called 911 and asked for a check on her daughter’s condition. She explained that Herrel had a long history of domestic violence against Irene Torres. She also reported that footage from security cameras at her daughter’s home showed her being pulled from the home and loaded into the gunman’s car.

Officers went to Duane Herrell’s apartment, where he said he hadn’t seen the woman in two days. When the uniformed men had already left, Irene’s father came and asked to see his daughter. Herrel explained that she was in a hotel downtown. They got into the car and drove off. On the way, Dwayne confessed to killing the woman by stabbing her. He then hid it in a container in one of the closets in his home.
The father then called the police and Herrell was arrested. During questioning, Dwayne explained that he went to Irene Torres’ apartment and the two argued. He took her outside, stabbed her in the parking lot, loaded her into the trunk of his car and took the body to his home. He wrapped the corpse in a quilt and put it in a container that he hid in the closet.
Dwayne Herrell has two bouts in MMA as a pro. They were held in 2017 and 2018, and in both meetings he suffered a loss.
