Obrat reminded Murray what it’s like to record back-to-back Slam wins (results)

For the first time since Wimbledon in 2017, Andy Murray managed to qualify for the third round of a Slam tournament.

The former No. 1 in the world is now part of the third round of the US Open, defeating the host Emilio Nava, participating with the “wild card”, 5:7, 6:3, 6:1, 6:0.

Murray got off to a tough start and had to make a comeback against the world No.203, but still achieved the minimum target, and it was after five tough years, to once again manage to record back-to-back Slam victories.

Despite the hesitation at the end of the first set, which Murray lost 5:7, the Briton showed an enviable form in the next three parts, in which he decisively prevailed over his American opponent.

Thus, 10 years after his triumph at the US Open, Andy Murray reached the third round, where, however, a much more difficult challenge will await him.

It’s world #14 Matteo Berretini, who also had to make a comeback, having a tough match against France’s Hugo Grenier.

Berretini won 2:6, 6:1, 7:6, 7:6, but in addition to the reversal, he had to go through two tough sets with a tiebreak, and the Italian was obviously not in his best form.

Results of the early matches in the men’s scheme:

Andy Murray (Great Britain) – Emilio Nava (USA) 5:7, 6:3, 6:1, 6;0
